Map key largo hotels11/24/2023 I couldn't believe how much fun we had! I had made many pop-ups into the wet room when working as a SCUBA instructor in Key Largo and teaching classes in the lagoon. I did two missions in Jules' Undersea Lodge: Mission #4005 in 2009, where my girlfriend and I completed the PADI Underwater Habitat Diver specialty course, and Mission #4109 in 2011, where we received the PADI Aquanaut Recognition for a dive that lasted longer than 24 hours. I'm a professional technical and cave diving instructor who served as the training director for 2 certification agencies, and I'm a recipient of the SSI Platinum Pro 5000 Award for making over 5,000 lifetime dives in a 38 year career. And for all this, the price is quite reasonable. Another regular treeller told us that once she was there as they were replacing al the mattresses. My wife was super-impressed that our bedsheets had creases that shpwed they were new out o he package. The grounds are beautiully landscaped and impeccable. Lastly, the kitchen utensils could use a little upgrade-the little cutting board was gashed, the serrrated kitchen knife was dull (do not try to cook a steak and slice it!). I had a hard time deciphering their map of thei grorunds, it doesn't seem to list all of their amenities, and I wasn't aware that they offer a complimentary breakfast every morning-their little fritattas are really tasty, the coffee seems to rang e from weak to Starbucks depending on who's making iit. Their website needs updaing, for instance. There are a few things I would imprrove here. On our first nightt I enjoye one of the most gorgeous sunsets ever. The sand here is sharp and packed hard, so don't forget your beach shoes! On the plus side, there is plenty of beach furniture, some cabanas and umbrellas, a couple of comfy hammocks which I tested personally, and rentals of paddleboards and other watersports equipment. Next day we got to the beach, which is small-a little sad that the beaches here are privately owned and fence off. Our first nightt was devoted to settling in. Tshe main items of more recent invention were the LED TV and the air conditioning. The little kitchenette had a full sized fridge, an electric stove, a very small counter and some essential housewars. The master bedroom was separate, the living area had a double bed so you could sleep 4 if needed. We'd rented a suite As note, this place is a throwback to the first time I was in Florida in the 1960s-simple buildings all in the same shade of blue, interior walls painted sea-mist green or in dark wood panel. We arrived jst prior to 7 when the offie closes and found a friendly and efficient reception. Shopping around Florida, I found this spot on Google maps-little did I know how charmed we would be. I thought it would be nice to watch the sunset. I hated to leave! I'm looking forward to another visit. The sunsets are magnificent.Īll the staff I met were so friendly and helpful. There are grills available as well as a small laundry room. Plenty of seating near the little cove/beach on the bayside and I had a table and chairs right outside my door. The kayaks are free, and I had no trouble getting one. A nearby tiki hut had a perfect breakfast with egg frittatas, fresh baked muffins, yogurt, fruit and coffee every morning. I was greeted by super friendly Ron (I think), and a squirrel that ate almonds from my hand! I had also read about the squirrels, and they were adorable and visited every day. No matter, everything was great, the air conditioning was frosty, ceiling fan powerful, and enough outlets for me to work and charge all my electronics. The only thing I would have liked was a shelf or storage cabinet in the bathroom, but I already knew not to expect one from a previous review. It's old Florida for sure, so don't expect a slick chain hotel appearance. My room had almost everything I needed, including an actual stove (which I didn't need, but it was nice to have), plenty of space, super clean and really adorable. I found the Seafarer reviews and web site to be very appealing and I was not disappointed. My husband and I usually stay at the Hampton up the road from the Seafarer, but I was traveling alone and the prices there were much higher than usual.
